Clinical and Health Psychology

The Clinical and Health Psychology Section is a newly formed and expanding part of the School of Health in Social Science, in the College of Humanities and Social Science.

 

The Section has been based in the Old Medical School in Teviot Place since the end of 2005. The research interests of the Clinical and Health Psychology Section cover the whole of the lifespan, focusing on childhood to adult and older adult mental health and emotional well being as well as the psychological impact of chronic physical ill health.

 

The Old Medical SchoolThe Section has specific strengths in quality of life research, research in the efficacy and effectiveness of psychological interventions and psychotherapy research in severe and enduring adult mental health and older adult mental health.

 

Postgraduate courses

The Section currently offers two taught postgraduate courses. The Clinical Psychology Doctorate course has been running since 1959, and now offers full-time and flexible training routes.

 

A new MSc course in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People began in January 2007.
